Our Profile

We are Darrinn and Kimberly Manuel. We own and operate Boring Properties, LLC from our new office in Jackson, MS – even though we started our journey in Boring, OR (yes… that really is a place).

We are super-hard working people and believe that doing the right thing is always the right thing to do. We are perpetual optimists, and believe that people are generally good and will try to to their best, given the situation. We think that you get what you earn, and there is no substitute for hard work and good planning.  We both have an entrepreneurial spirit, along with a solid management background,  and that has served us well in the investments that we have chosen over the years.

Darrinn graduated with a double major from Eastern Oregon University with a Bachelor’s of Science in International Business and a Bachelor’s of Science in Leadership and Organizational Management. Darrinn has many years of sales and management experience, along with property rehabilitation, construction, and financial planning. Darrinn speaks Spanish and Russian as well.

We have a big family. There are eight children between us, although most are grown and gone. We still have a junior in high school and a 5th grader at home. Our family has gone in many different directions. Some are in nursing, veterinary service, construction, property maintenance, and the military. The last one to move on joined the US Army, and is currently stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA. This rings close to the heart, as Darrinn was in the Army during Desert Shield and Kimblerly’s brother retired as a 1st Sergeant from the Army as well.

Kimberly also graduated with dual degrees… a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor’s of Science in Leadership and Organizational Management – both from Eastern Oregon University. Kimberly was on the Dean’s List and graduated  with honors.  Kimberly also has an extensive background in Education, specializing in Early Childhood Education. In addition, Kimberly holds a TEFL certification (Teacher of English as a Foreign Language). She is currently a Dean’s Scholarship recipient pursuing her Master’s Degree at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business.

During our off time (of which there is very little), we like to travel to Mexico where Kimberly volunteers as an English Teacher for a small village primary school. Here is a photo of her with one of her small classes:

While Kimberly is teaching, Darrinn is helping local residents with construction advice and education at no cost. Here is a photo of Darrinn with one of the grandchildren, working on a new pond in the backyard.

We love to give back. Last year we had an opportunity to bring two students up with us from Mexico for the school year. They are completed their Junior year the local high school while living with us at our home. This was an experience that will impact them for the rest of their lives and we were happy to be able to provide a place for them. Here is a picture of the girls after soccer practice:

Back at home, Kimberly does the accounting and customer relations work for the company. When there is a break in the day to day business, Kimberly is always eager to visit current projects and get to work. She is a capable contractor and project manager when the need arises.

Darrinn serves as the maintenance/construction person for the company. He can do bookwork and customer service as well, but prefers to be working on a remodel or taking care of a maintenance request.

Although we are a small company, we are capable. We want to provide housing that people can be proud of, and we do our best to improve our places as time and money allow. We are always looking for new projects and always trying to improve the properties that we have.

Our tenants are what makes this business run. We love our people, and feel that we are blessed to have the opportunity to work with so many great folks.
